In his book “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”, C.S. Lewis described a world where truth and values had been usurped by another ideology. It was an ideology that created a world where it was always winter and never Christmas. And anyone that opposed it faced suffering and persecution. Many are noticing that in this day and age, there is a similar threat to freedom of religion and of freedom of speech. I love the famous quote from Voltaire. He said, “I do not agree with what you have to say, but, I’ll defend to the death your right to say it.” The truth is that when you stand up for something, you will always have people that disagree. And even though it might feel like the winter is going on forever, remember the good news in “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”. Aslan the lion comes to the rescue and Christmas finally comes. In the book of revelation in the Bible, it tells us that Jesus is the Lion of the tribe of Judah, and he’s already triumphed. Jesus came once 2,000 years ago as our saviour. He’s coming back one day as the great judge, as the Lion of the tribe of Judah. And no matter how dark things get, the Bible tells us to watch and be ready for his return.
