Eloise Wellings is an Aussie Long distance runner and Olympic Athlete. She founded the Love Mercy Foundation in 2009 and has since impacted over 100,000 local Ugandans through health and agriculture programs. She is a strong Christian and has stated that she missed out on the Sydney 2000 Olympics due to an injury and thought God was punishing her. She went to church with a school friend and began to understand God’s love for her. She stated, “Once I found Jesus I was free to use the gifts He had given me and it didn’t matter if I succeeded or not.” Wellings also missed out on the Athens and Beijing Olympics due to injury. However, she states, “All of my disappointing results and disappointing injuries and heartbreak missing 3 Olympics, there was always this belief and faith that my identity is in Jesus and that’s my foundation. When you’ve got that, you can’t be shaken. Every time I get up to train, I just ask that he be glorified, that he give me the strength to do it, that he help give me the right thoughts to think – and not necessarily that I win but that he would be made known to people as I run.

Mike Gore is the CEO for Open Doors Australia. Mike has had extensive field experience – from being chased by the secret police in North Africa, to being in lock down in a hotel to avoid being kidnapped for ransom. He has met with and ministered to secret believers in house churches and smuggled Bibles to Muslim background believers in restricted countries. Through all of these experiences, Mike has gained a profound passion for people and telling the story of the persecuted church. He firmly believes that, as we hear stories of courage and passion from our brothers and sisters, our personal faith and the spiritual temperature of a country can be radically transformed. Returning from a trip to Iraq in 2015, Mike felt convicted that caring for the persecuted church should be part of the DNA of every Christian. He’s passionate about sharing stories of the church living in persecution with Christians in Australia, so that they would know and care for the global body of Christ.Read More
