We’ve all heard the phrase, “It’s like a battle between David and Goliath.” This biblical term has stayed in our vocabulary for years. It’s often used when the small guy takes on the big guy. When I hear that phrase used, it reminds me to my visit to the Valley of Elah in Israel. The actual place where David took on the actual Goliath. You think about the courage it took for young David to take on a giant. The story in 1 Samuel 17 shares how David said, “Who are you to defy the armies of the living God?” I guess there’s two ways to look at it isn’t there? You can look at Goliath and think he’s so big, he’s going to kill me, or you could look at Goliath and think, he’s so big, I can’t miss him. It’s all a matter of perspective. Many of us look at the Goliaths in our lives and think, “It’s so big, it’s going to kill me.” We need to have a paradigm shift in our thinking. Instead we need to look at our God and think how big our God is compared to our Goliath. The Bible says “Nothing is impossible for those who believe.” Maybe you’ve got a financial Goliath right now. Maybe you’ve got a Goliath in your health. Maybe unemployment is a Goliath for you. Don’t look at how big Goliath is, look at how big our God is. And remember all things are possible to those who believe.
